Description Robert Simmons 2011-06-20 03:04:44 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.4)
OS: Linux

There are a number of tray icons that don't fit the new monochrome KDE tray icon theme. It would be nice if all the icons fit the theme.

I noticed that the KOrganizer icon was updated to almost fit the theme. It seems that the icon has been made grayscale. I would suggest redesigning it so that it is not just monochrome but highly stylized as the clipboard scissors, network, and audio icons are.

Other icons that need updates (this is just a small list of things I use, there are probably many many more):
Printer Applet
KOrganizer Reminder Daemon
KGpg

Reproducible: Always

Agreed. We should provide monochrome Breeze versions of 3rd-party apps that utilize system tray icons. These icons should be monochrome and automatically change their color with the active theme, so that they match the plasmoid icons in the system tray that have those characteristics.

Example apps: Telegram, Riot

And we'll need to make sure that providing small monochrome icons for apps doesn't result in these apps showing those monochrome icons in their titlebars. They should continue to show the full-color version there.

Just FYI, the Telegram and Riot system tray icons are hardcoded. We can't change them without having to maintain hacks.

After having dug into this, we'll need to fix this on an app-by-app-basis (where even possible; see Noah's comment). Please individually file bugs for each app that has a colorful system tray icons that should be monochrome. Thanks!
