Description Daniele E. Domenichelli 2011-06-08 20:57:55 UTC
Version: unspecified
OS: Linux

Looks like that file transfer works only with some accounts or in some other condition.

Please report both successes and failures stating which accounts are you using

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Send a file from a gabble account to another gabble account

Actual Results:
Sometimes works, sometime doesn't

Expected Results:
Should work always or ft capabilities shouldn't be shown

Me and david were both using kde-telepathy and tried to send files. I was using my google account. David no.

What happened:
jobs started and a file with the correct name was created in the "/home/downloads" folder. Jobs were shown but didn't advance. They just hung there.
Comment 2 Alin M Elena 2011-06-10 11:14:16 UTC
failure:
two gtalk accounts different computers both using kde-telepathy...
the filename is created onthe remote computer but no data is transferred...
notification area keeps rotating and theprogress bar 0%

success:
two gtalk on the same computer both onlinefromthe kde-telepathy... file successfully transferred... however the notification message was empty...

Comment 7 Alin M Elena 2011-06-10 18:42:10 UTC
found another issue in the file transfer
I have told you that if both accounts are on the same computer the file transfer happens as expected... but ifthe file exists... the rename dialogue appears and then I get a no job running error and stuck at 0% progress with the notification keep rotating
Comment 8 Alin M Elena 2011-06-23 12:10:44 UTC
more tests carried out

two gtalk accounts both connected via theofficial windows gtalk client... the ft was very unreliable... I could receive but I could not send files... that makes me think that the error for gtalk is upstream with gabble or/and google...
danielle suggested a test with empathy and probably report the bug with gabble if it is the case.

using non-gtalk accounts (kdetalk.net) ft went ahead as expected.
Comment 9 David Edmundson 2011-07-13 15:55:36 UTC
Removed from blocking the preview release - it's not like file transfer worked 100% in Kopete anyway...

More data (from more users) may help fix this too.
Comment 10 Daniele E. Domenichelli 2011-09-14 16:31:42 UTC
We might have fixed this, see http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=telepathy-filetransfer-handler.git&a=commit&h=27becf7c2036caad9cfbc63269391b33f9e4e6f7

I'm closing this for the moment, if failures are still reported I will reopen it
