Description Jean-Daniel Dodin 2011-05-16 18:44:49 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

There is an other bug with nearly the same title, but very old, so It's better to open an other :-)

On my main computer, kscd do not read audio cd's, don't find them.

I know it may be spoecial to this computer/install, because kscd works perfectly on an other hardware.

It's probably hardware related because on the same computer an openSUSE live cd do not play neither.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
insert an audio cd, start kscd. Kscd works for some time (1 or 2 seconds) then stops. clicking read give the error message "no disk".

I tried to replace /dev/cdrom with media://hdc, with no success

Kaffeine reads perfectly, as do VLC or the gnome reader

I'm on 64 bits HP computer (i5, 4Gb ram) and openSUSDE 11.4. I try to debug roughtly most multimedia openSUSE applications.
Kscd should be the default reader, but for this I have to make sure it works :-)

I have two readers. The one I tried most is the internal one, the usb one gives segfault with kscd (but I may open an other bug if necessary later)

Which of the the devices "/dev/cdrom", "/devsr0", "/dev/cdrw" do you have?
