Created attachment 59981 [details] recently plug in device Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux I plug in my Dick Smith Mp4 player (A5148) and KDE recognized it as an MP3PLAER as seen on the screenshot. The device was not recognized by the linux kernel that was shiped with kubuntu 11.4 and is supported in a newer version. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1463285 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: plug in the device Actual Results: shown as MP3PLAER and Amarok does not recognize it. dolphin can access the files on the device Expected Results: Amarok recognize it as portable media device or mp3 player system language is german
Did you mount the device? On the screenshot you attached it isn't mounted. Also, does this player use the MTP mode by default or is the selection automatic between MTP and MSC mode? In that case you need to set it to the desired mode manually.?
yes, I mounted the device. it does show up as a MSC. there is no mode selection as far as i know. basti@basti-laptop:~$ mtp-detect libmtp version: 1.0.6 Listing raw device(s) No raw devices found.
If it is in MSC mode it doesn't use libmtp, as this is the basic USB protocol. Has something changed about this since May? Current available Amarok version in Kubuntu is 2.4.1 and we are about to release 2.4.2 in a few days.
