Description srikkanth87 2011-05-13 13:56:31 UTC
Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

File transfer to removable drives is extremely slow in kde compared to gnome which is noticed in all distos running kde. The effect is much clear especially when transferring files to ntfs formatted drives.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Copy or move a file to removable drive

Actual Results:
transfer rate falls to 1Mb/s or sometimes in Kbs

Expected Results:
Considering usb2.0 speed ranging from 20-60 Mb/s is expected

Any updates on this?

Cannot reproduce this with vfat usb stick. Of course you mentioned an ntfs formatted drive, but the only ntfs formatter drive I have is a hard drive partition and I do not see the problem there either.

ntfs slowness is the same issue reported in 255306.
