Description penola 2011-05-12 13:32:06 UTC
Version: 0.10.5
OS: Linux

When using presentation mode the page changes to next too fast to read the page.
As I understand it Okular auto advances to next page at the shortest of the times either embedded in the PDF file, or the input in settings.

Result for me is that if I select no navigation (Okular settings presentation), I get the automatic advance time embedded in the file.

Then I tried to activate navigation time and set it to 360s, this still keeps on advancing at the embedded time.

Thus there is no way I can slow down the presentation mode auto advancing the pages. As I use it to read magazines etc it is not possible for me to read this fast.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Open any pdf file in presentation that have fast advance time embedded and this will happen.

Actual Results:
I can't slow down the presentation in any way, or disable the auto advance of pages

Expected Results:
I would suggest a slightly different approach in the menu (and functionality).
In the "settings - okular-presentation" menu you should be able to not have following possibilities:
1) No auto advance.
2) Auto advance according to embedded time
3) Auto advance according to user input time

his is a problem when reading the pages, or during presentation in public if you need time to let the audience read or write or fill in comments during a presentation.
Using Linux Mint 9

Please attach the pdf with that problem.
Comment 2 penola 2011-05-12 20:22:41 UTC
I can't as I'm traveling with very limited data trafic, but you can get the link.

www.animamundimag.com

It was a problem with the second edition

I had also problems with pdf magazines from this link

http://www.xray-mag.com/Issues

I have later updated okular with a cartoon reader via synaptics.
After that I can't recreate the problem.

I hope this helps a little to improve a truly nice tool, much better than other readers I have tried.
Keep up the good work :-D

I do not understand what you mean with this sentence.
Comment 4 penola 2011-06-05 02:25:38 UTC
I had the problem for a while.
During this time the fault could be re created every time I used Okular.

The i found the reader mention in the synaptics package manager for Linux Mint 9.
I installed this reader (designed to work on okular)
Sorry i informed a wrong name it was named "Omaque"

I checked my note and have also installed "okular-extra-backends" the same day, and since I haven't been able to re-create the problem.

Does this mean you are satisfied and the bug is no longer an issue? If so, we can close this and if the bug crops back up you can reopen.
Comment 6 penola 2011-07-15 05:12:45 UTC
I have still this bug, and it still is anoying that I can't use the presentation style with some documents.

The fault only happens with files from X-ray magazine. It's a diving online pdf magazine.
When looking at this I'm force to avoid presentation though that is my prefered way to read magazines on my laptop.

Would you please attach one of the documents that is giving you the problems so I as well as other developers can help research a fix for this. I could look it up but its better for everyone to have access to the document right here. Thanks.
Comment 8 penola 2011-07-15 05:41:33 UTC
I'm limited so i can't send these files as I'm on a boat an there are strict limits to what I can send/receive.

I can write you the link.
Here I download the full screen version of the 3 possible.

I can send you the file when I get home from the vessel but that will be early august.

Thank you very very much for keeping this alive.
Very nice to deal with support that actually take the issues seriously :-D

Also thank you for the best viewer I have tried so far :-D

Just double checked, this is also happening with the latest issue (43) of the magazine.
It ask me if it should enter presentation mode when I open it.
Then i have the problem as it is changing the page way faster than I can read. If it was a picture slideshow, then maybe, but I'd like to be able to control the change to the next page myself.

Have a good day :-D

Comment 10 Burkhard Lück 2011-07-15 06:54:56 UTC
Kubuntu 101.10 with
$ okular --version
Qt: 4.7.0
KDE: 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
Okular: 0.12.2

Reading the the latest issue (43) of the magazine www.xray-mag.com in Presentation mode the okular settings to advance to the next page are respected, tried that different times and both resolution of issue 43.
I can not reproduce the bug.
Comment 11 penola 2011-07-15 09:42:31 UTC

And which version of Okular is that? Can you please do what Burkhard did?
Comment 13 jordonwii 2012-01-06 05:30:37 UTC
Hi Penola,
Are you able to upload the PDF now? If so, please do so. Either way, please confirm you are still having the issue.
Comment 14 penola 2012-01-06 05:54:13 UTC
I can't update the Okular program, and I can't upload files, I can only handle tiny file as e-mails.

My company do have strict limits on the satelite communication.

I'll follow up on this in a month time or so when i return to my home.

Thanks for keeping it going :-D

Just tried to send the file, but it's too big for Gmail.
I have just updated my computer and tried to download the same file from
original source.
Now it is not behaving the same way anymore

Thanks for the great work with the Ocular
