Description Malte S. Stretz 2011-05-09 14:37:37 UTC
Version: 2.0.95 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

I just upgraded to KMail 4.6-beta5, via the Kubuntu (natty) experimental PPA (KDE 4.6.3, Akonadi 1.5.2).

After an otherwise uneventful migration, I was spammed by the Notification area with messages like "Remote Folders: Select failed, server replied: A000047 NO Invalid mailbox name". After KMail started successfully, these appear regularly.

"Remote Folders" is the name of my IMAP account, the Annnnnn are probably the IMAP sequence numbers from my Dovecot server. Still, I have no idea what is wrong here or even which folder is acting weird. Also, I have idea on how to fix this. That will be true for the average user, too, so unless the errors are significant (looks like everything works up to now), KMail should not spam me with errors I can't fix anyway.

After a while the error "Remote Folders: Unknown error. (Could not create collection)" popped up as well.

The server is dovecot 1.1.11-0ubuntu11.

Reproducible: Didn't try

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.38-8-generic
Compiler: cc

Looks like this is worse than I thought: Some of my folders are empty (see bug 271913) and when I hit F5 I get the quoted error and no mail. Looks like this happens for all non-toplevel folders (Inbox, Sent, etc. work, Sent/2011 eg. doesn't).

After some poking around in the config and a restart of Akonadi I can now access subfolders, too. Don't ask me what I did to fix this though.

Could it be the "Prefix" setting? If so what is it set to?
Comment 4 Malte S. Stretz 2011-05-12 21:26:25 UTC
I thought so too. But I can't find any option in KMail2 to set the IMAP prefix (does KMail/Akonadi support the Namespace extension?).

My mail server doesn't use any prefix (all folders are on the same level as INBOX).
