Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.5) OS: Linux When changing the sender address to another profile, only the name will be changed, but NOT the belonging e-mail address. Kmail uses the e-mail address from the standard profile instead. For example, there are two profiles Hans <hans.ullrich@loop.de> and Hans-Ullrich <hans@gmx.net> , and the first is the standard, then my sender address is Hans-Ullrich <hans.ullrich@loop.de>, which is wrong. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Create two sender profiles, choose them in the e-mail creation. Then check the headers of the sent e-mail.
I cannot reproduce that behavior here using KDEPim from openSUSE and several identities. Could you enable showing the "From" field and see what that shown when changing sender?

This means both, name and the e-mail address in brackets. So far, looking from this point, it shows correctly, But as you see, in real, the change does not work properly. Regards Hans Whe
Torgny, after activating the from: field in GUI of kmail, it seems to work. This is strange, cause as you have seen, the bug really existed. Let me check and watch for some time, and when the error does not appear any more, I will close the bug. May it appears only, when the from: field is hidden? Best regards Hans

I still cannot reproduce. Could it be that your SMTP provider is overriding the setting, like gmail is doing?
works fine with KDE 4.10
