Bug with tool tips of system tray

Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

In some cases, dropdown menu/information leave a black rectangle with same size on upon-left border of screen. The rectangle disappears with a refresh of the area. It happens only with desktop effect disabled. I have Nvidia card, but I heard cases with Intel card. I attached some examples when it happens. Additional screenshots here: https://picasaweb.google.com/alessandro.ufms/08052011?authkey=Gv1sRgCOj-wYLH4Ln1VQ&feat=directlink#

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Opening dropdown menus

Actual Results:
Left a black rectangle on upon-left border of screen

Expected Results:
Don't leave black rectangle

I have the follow version of programs/drivers:
Xorg-server 1.10.1
Nvidia 270.41.06
KDE 4.6.3

Happens to me on several Ubuntu Lucid machines running 4.4.5, with either Nvidia or Intel video cards.

For me, one each way to repro this most of the time is to have 2 konsole windows open. The first is at 0,0 and the second is at 800,0. Click the konsole icon on the left side of the second konsole window, and the min/max/close menu pops up. At the same time, an area the same size as the menu at 0,0 becomes damaged.

Happens to me too on Kubuntu Natty, exactly as shown in the attached screenshots.
KDE 4.6.3
Nvidia 270.41.19 (Geforce 8400M GS GPU)
Xorg 1.10.1

For what it's worth, I'm also experiencing other bugs, such as some variant of this one http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365479 .

In case it's helpful, my kdm.log always ends with the following:

klauncher(1662) kdemain: No DBUS session-bus found. Check if you have started the DBUS server.
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
kdmgreet(1643)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): KSystemTimeZones: ktimezoned initialize() D-Bus call failed: "Not connected to D-Bus server"

QInotifyFileSystemWatcherEngine::addPaths: inotify_add_watch failed: No such file or directory
QFileSystemWatcher: failed to add paths: /tmp/0007073709/.config/ibus/bus

Same problem as shown in screenshots attached by Alessandro.

Kubuntu 11.04 (Natty)
KDE 4.6.3
Nvidia 270.41.19 (Geforce 9300M GS GPU)
Xorg 1.10.1

Please let me know should you need further information from me.

It's still happening on nvidia 275.09 driver and Xorg 1.10.2.

It seems that the nvidia driver 275.09.04 fix the problem of the black squares. But the bug with consoles still reproducible and I think it is not related with the bug with black square.
