Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux Software Management have Update Settings management. This feature is didn't work because change of such settings is requere root password, but Software Management is didn't ask password when I press Apply. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Software Management in System Settings under user. 2. Try to change Update Settings. For example: check every day, automatic installation of all updates. 3. Apply. Actual Results: Settings isn't applied. For example on Ubuntu you can check /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades isn't changed. Updates isn't installed automatically. Expected Results: Settings is applied. Updates is installed automatically every day. I not sure, maybe it's not KDE but Kubuntu bug. How can I provide additional information? Also there is same feature (Update Settings Management) in Edit Origins, but this version have less functional (it's allow to install automatically only secure updates, not all). It's very strange to see manaement of such important settings with diffrent functional in different places of one application (Software Management).
You are right, Software Management is not part of the KDE Software compilation, but a distribution specific add on. Please report to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu
Thank you for answer! Reported to Kubuntu developers: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kpackagekit/+bug/477250
