Version: 4.6 beta5 (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux The login information for my SMTP server didn't seem to get transfered when I upgraded from 4.4.10. When I set it to remember the password I get a message stating that KWallet is not available and I can store the password in a configuration file instead, although this is not recommended. Of course, this is not true; KWallet is very much available -- I can access it through the system tray. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure KWallet already stores the passwords for my IMAP accounts, and Kontact had no problem accessing those. Reproducible: Always
What I wrote wasn't quite true: the passwords for 2 out of 3 SMTP logins were transfered. The usernames for all 3 were transfered. Regardless, as I described, I can't store the password the one that wasn't transfered.
Hello, anyone? This is still keeping me from sending mail in version 4.6. I changed my password for an account and now I can't save the new SMTP password.
I've had the same problem several times for SMTP passwords. Sometimes restarting kontact is enough to make it "find" kwallet again, sometimes not. If not I can enter the password then click "don't save" and it'll send the email, but it's very annoying having to do this. It might be worth noting that I've imported my kwallet and other configuration settings from past installations several times, so they contain quite a bit of cruft (enough that opening the wallet in the manager takes several seconds), but usually it still works fine. Probably #204231 is related.
This bug has only been reported for versions older than KDEPIM 4.14 (at most akonadi-1.3). Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a recent version of akonadi (part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
