In a folder (folder A) of several hundred images, I filtered a group of photos by star rating, selected all, right clicked, selected "Cut" from the menu, and then navigated to a subfolder. I then pasted the files to that subfolder.
Of note: one of the images was the icon of folder A in digikam.
