Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux I don't know if its a bug or a wish... Plasma has some inconsistences in its animations, and IMHO many animations could be removed without affect the user experience (in fact, makes it better). For example, the transition between itens in a list. In the Activity menu, there is an animation on this process. Lancelot and Plasma-netbook also have this animation. But NetworkManager plasmoid and Kickoff menu don't have. The window list plasmoid also has this effect (mouse over the itens and the thumbnail moves). I think this effect is really useful when you navigate using keyboard (arrow up, arrow down, etc.), but are really ugly when you use a mouse. There's no sense having these effects when you use a mouse. Think with me: In a list with ten itens, the mouse pointer is over the first one. So you want to go to the last item. With keyboard, you need to go through every item till the 10th: the animation makes the process more "organic". Ok. Now imagine you're using a mouse (99% of the menu use). You go to 10th item quite instantly (perhaps 50ms), but the animation's frame takes lots of time (perhaps 600ms or even more). It's terrible, ugly and makes my computer looks very slow. The animation frame doesn't have to exist. In my opinion all transitions animation effects in plasma should disappear. (sorry my English. It's not my native language, but I hope you understand me :-)) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Open lancelot or activity menu. With the mouse, go over every item in the app lists. But do it fast. Observe. Actual Results: A useless and slow animation Expected Results: No animations. It happens with most themes (I didin't test all them :-)), mainly Air and Air netbook.
