Please try disabling the "Blur" effect in System Settings. If this does not help, disable desktop effects completely. If this also does not fix the issue, it most certainly is not a KDE problem, but a video driver problem. It would help to know which video drivers you are using. Note that (except for intel), usually many different drivers (open source vs. propietary) exists for a specific video card, and you might try switching between them. For more help about video drivers, ask in the Ubuntu forums at http://ubuntuforums.org/
I did uncheck Blur and that did the trick. Thank you.
Thanks for the update. This means the detection wether your video drivers are capable of accelerated shader effects does not work correctly for your configuration. There have been changes for the forthcoming KDE SC 4.7 in that detection, so it might already be fixed in KDE. But to be sure, please provide the following information: - Konsole output of "glxinfo" I am reassigning to KWin team to decide if this is a duplicate of an existing bug.
