Description S. Burmeister 2011-04-25 21:40:25 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

If one copies a new folder via die file manager to the directory that is set for a kmail folders resource and sync the folder (and all sub-folders) that folder should be shown immediately in kmail as well as akondisconsole.

Yet it takes minutes before it suddenly shows-up. Even restarting akonadi does not show it right-away.

The time until it shows-up might depend on the amount of emails in the folder. This does however not have anything to do with showing the folder, even if its content is still being worked on the folder can already be shown.

Reproducible: Always

Forgot to add: After the folder is shown, in this case it is a folder with sub-folders of type maildir. The content of the folders is still not shown although there are thousands of files in them.

If one syncs one of the folders akonadiconsole only shows:

akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0 (0x8a66b0) 30121 LSUB 86 0 (RESOURCE akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0) (ANCESTORS INF)
akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0 (0x8a66b0) * 86 83 (NAME "CCed_bugs" MIMETYPE (message/rfc822 inode/directory) REMOTEID "CCed_bugs" REMOTEREVISION "" RESOURCE "akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0" CACHEPOLICY (INHERIT true INTERVAL -1 CACHETIMEOUT -1 SYNCONDEMAND true LOCALPARTS (HEAD)) ANCESTORS ((83 "Mailinglists") (25 "/home/rabauke/Mail") (0 "")) AccessRights "a")
akonadi_mixedmaildir_resource_0 (0x8a66b0) 30121 OK List completed

It then takes again some time until akonadi starts reading the content, i.e.:

This bug has only been reported for versions older than KDEPIM 4.14 (at most akonadi-1.3). Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a recent version of akonadi (part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 3 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:18:05 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
