Description Andrei Popescu 2011-04-24 10:10:48 UTC
Version: 1.0.0 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

I'm using kopete with a Yahoo and a GTalk account. All my GTalk contacts appear with the nickname I set in gmail, while all Yahoo contacts appear with the Yahoo id.

Looking at the "Properties" of each contact I notice that both use "Custom" as "Display Name Source", but for GTalk the value in "Custom" is the same as the server nickname.

A simple fix would be to have the value in "Custom" also use the server nick as initial value, but IMVHO it would make sense to additionally have "Display Name Source" default to "From Contact" for all protocols (or at least the ones expected to have sane values there).

Thanks for reading,
Andrei

Reproducible: Always

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!

Currently I don't have the possibility to install kopete and have (mostly) switched to Signal.

Kind regards,
Andrei
