Version: 2.0.2 (using Devel) OS: Linux K3B for KDE 4 doesn't recognize my dvd writer... It returns: No optical drive found. K3b did not find any optical device in your system. Solution: Make sure HAL daemon is running, it is used by K3b for finding devices. *** Well, hal is running: fraga@tux ~/src/k3b-2.0.2/b$ ps axw|grep hal 1259 pts/1 S+ 0:00 grep hal 3305 ? Ssl 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/hald --daemon=yes 3372 ? S 0:00 hald-runner 3379 ? S 0:00 hald-addon-input: Listening on /dev/input/event7 /dev/input/event0 /dev/input/event5 /dev/input/event4 /dev/input/event1 /dev/input/event2 3413 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/libexec/hald-addon-cpufreq 3414 ? S 0:00 hald-addon-acpi: listening on acpid socket /var/run/acpid.socket 3415 ? S 0:00 hald-addon-storage: polling /dev/sdb (every 2 sec) 3418 ? S 0:00 hald-addon-storage: polling /dev/sr0 (every 2 sec) *** The dvd device is /dev/sr0. So what's the problem? Thanks. Ps: Using KDE 4.6.41 (GIT). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just start k3b. Actual Results: Failed to detect drive. Expected Results: No error message. With k3b for kde3 everything worked fine. The k9copy application uses the dvd drive fine.
