Description CaCO3 2011-04-14 11:31:47 UTC
Version: 2.0.89 (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

Pressing the shortcut (default del) to move a mail to trash bin does not work all the time.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
How to reproduce:
1. Go into a folder with a few mails.
2. select a mail
3. press "del" to move the mail to the trash bin
4. Do step 3 a few times. After a while the selected mail will NOT be moved to the trash bin.
5. To get it working again, I have to click around a bit or restart kmail

Actual Results:
mail stays in folder, does not get moved to trash bin

Expected Results:
mail should get moved to trash bin

Hello

I cannot reproduce this bug on opensuse 11.4. My kde environment is

Qt: 4.7.1
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.41 (4.7 >= 20110106)
KMail: 2.0.89

Please could you try to reproduce the bug with a newer version of kmail and check if the bug is still valid?
Comment 2 CaCO3 2011-04-17 23:27:03 UTC
Its already the newest version I can find for Kubuntu Natty (11.04).

"kmail -v" shows this:
Qt: 4.7.2
KDE: 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
KMail: 2.0.89

How ever the package manager shows this version for kmail: 4.5.94.1-0ubuntu-ppa3
Before I had 4.5.94.1-0ubuntu-ppa1 with the same issue.

Interestingly I have the same version (4.5.94.1-0ubuntu-ppa1) on an up-to-date Kubuntu Maverick (10.10) without this issue.

Are there any other packages I should update/check?

I removed all config files for kmail and even deleted all Akonadi resources.
After that it seemed to work ok. I could delete all files with the del key.
But then, afer a while it stopped working again (

Hello

Sorry for my late response... Have you tried to open a bug report in launchpad? If yes, then could you give me the url please?
Comment 5 CaCO3 2011-04-28 18:42:30 UTC
Which launchpad are you speaking about?
I already opened a bug here in the KDE bug tracking system...
Comment 6 Antonis Tsiapaliokas 2011-04-28 20:14:55 UTC
I am talking about the ubuntu bugzilla... I tried to reproduce your bug a lot of times but i am not able to reproduce it.... So i guess that it might be a distro issue... (Because we are using the same qt and kmail version and i don't think that the kdelibs can cause a bug like that....)
Comment 7 Torgny Nyblom 2011-05-01 20:01:59 UTC
Seems to be an issue with the migrator not setting the trash folder.

This can be manually set in Accounts settings, Advanced tab after setting it here I could not reproduce anymore.
Comment 8 CaCO3 2011-05-04 13:01:55 UTC
It is definitely not a configuration problem!
I have set the path to the trashbin correctly. Also, as I reported, it works SOMETIMES!

I now opened a bug in the kubuntu bug tracker as suggested:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdepim/+bug/777025

In any way, thank you for your help!
Comment 9 Christian (Fuchs) 2011-05-19 08:10:41 UTC
I can confirm this on Gentoo as well. And there is no setting for the trash folder in the advanced settings, only for the draft- and sent folders.

Kind regards,

Christian

Its seems to be solved on newer kmail versions.
In any way, I can not reproduce it anymore.
Comment 11 Tim Eberhardt 2011-07-03 19:59:11 UTC
I can confirm this bug! Most of the time it happens when I try to delete a whole bunch of mails. Because of other difficulties with akonadi I deleted my .kde4, .local, . config and other system folders and started with an almost fresh home dir. Some problems are gone but this one not.

Gentoo Linux
KDE 4.6.4
KDEPIM 4.6.0
KMail 2.1.0
gcc 4.5.2
glibc 2.13
QT 4.7.3

Looks to me like this is solved in on of the commits right before 4.7.2.
Comment 13 Laurent Montel 2011-10-16 17:06:54 UTC
Works fine here.
Reopen if you see this bug yet

In case it will save others' time.

Had this problem with the *IMAP* account and indeed the Trash folder setting
was missing.

   $ kmail --version
   Qt: 4.7.4
   KDE Development Platform: 4.7.3 (4.7.3)
   KMail: 4.7.3

Set "Trash folder" under your IMAP account settings, the "Advanced" tab.

Thanks guys.
