Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2) OS: Linux xz is an improved compression format to be used in combination with tar. It has significantly better compression ratio than bz2. It is slower in packing, but slightly faster than bz2 in unpacking. Recent tar versions support xz directly through the -J parameter. For backwards compatibility, bz2 tarballs are probably still needed, but xz tarballs could be provided as a more modern alternative. Reproducible: Always
The KDE WWW team does not release the tarballs. To contact the KDE release team, please write to the release-team mailing list via https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/release-team
