Description Paulo Fidalgo 2011-04-11 10:16:42 UTC
Version:           1.0 (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS:                Linux

I have an external display to use on a laptop. I set up the display position to left and saved as default. At the next login these settings are lost and I have to set up it again. (In the mean time I've made a login in the laptop without the external monitor connected)

By login, I mean shut down and start again.

Reproducible: Always

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.35.11-83.fc14.x86_64
Compiler: gcc

Similar problem here with two desktop computers where two displays are connected to the system all the time (Intel i915 and nVidia G86 [Quadro NVS 290] with nouveau, both Kubuntu 11.04, KDE 4.6.2). On every reboot, fall back to clone-mode.

same issue here, I have 2 displays (dvi-0 and vga-0) coming from one card (ati), and every reboot it resets itself to 'clone of'.
KDE 4.6.3, kernel 2.6.38.8-32 fedora 15 x86_64

related ?? bug: clicking Kinfocentre/Graphical Information/OpenGL crashes Kinfo
 also clicking System Settings/Screen Saver crashes system settings.

Sorry if anything here is improper, it's my first time doing this.

I'm having the same problem. KDE 4.9 with Kubuntu 12.04.

Yes. I put my vote to solve this.

I use my laptop every day at my office. I connet my laptop to projector to be ready if I need discussions with my team. I have hundreds of times made the setup how I want it to be:
- resolution 1680x1050 for my own screen,
- 1200x800 for the projector,
- not "unify outputs",
- postion: clone off

I suppose that "Save as Default" should remember these settings next time. But no, tomorrow I have to strat from the beginning.

If I connect the projector cable so that the projector is not on, I have no possibility to adjust the connection so that it would be ready when is my turn to show my ideas on the team projector.

Moreover: I would like to have a feature "Save by name" so that when I am at my customer's meeting room where is a little different projector, I could save settings by that customer's name. A little similar as FiWi connections.

Please atleast confirm the problem soon!!!

Linux Mint 15 (olivia) with KDE 4.10.5. Using on a VirtualBox VM on a dual-monitor system (i.e. virtualbox-guest-dkms driver). Size and resolutions of the monitors are correct but the position is not. After configuring the displays, saving does not save the position configuration and logout or reboot results in a reset of the position of the monitors.

Default on login:
VBOX1->VBOX0 (Right of VBOX1)

After configuration:
VBOX0->VBOX1 (Right of VBOX0)

The monitors are the same size/make/resolution.

Thanks for reporting your bug.

Since reporting Krandr has since been replaced by KScreen. It is available in the Plasma 4 series, and is default in Plasma 5 onwards.

I hope this solves your issue. If you still have a problem after upgrading please reopen a new bug under kscreen.

Thanks
