Description PallasBurko 2011-04-10 20:51:54 UTC
Version: 2.4.0 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

I encountered a number of strange issues, which I will summarize in this bug report.

Whem I am playing a song and pause it, it often (but not every time!) refuses to play when I hit the Play button. There is a OSD saying that amarok continues playing, but there is no sound and the slider does not move.
It also refuses playing any other song selected.

Interestingly, that behaviour continues after quitting and opening amarok again. So I assume that it could be something with the backend. However, I am no expert and so I can hardly go trough the whole software stack and determine the source of this behaviour.

I found a similar description of behavior ind Bug 257875 .

Note: Amarok 2.4.0 on gstreamer backend and enabled Pulseaudio (!)

I will deliver more Information if needed.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Hardly possible. I seem to happen just by incident and whenever it want to happen. Possible magic involved.

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop
Compiler: gcc

Could you please try with the Phonon VLC backend?
Comment 2 PallasBurko 2011-05-05 15:07:47 UTC
Yes, I will try it.
I will report back after it.
Comment 3 PallasBurko 2011-05-05 15:18:49 UTC
Works flawlessly with phonon VLC backend 0.3.something so far.
Comment 4 Myriam Schweingruber 2011-05-07 11:59:33 UTC
Thank you for the feedback, I suspected this to be a backend problem.
Comment 5 Harald Sitter 2011-05-07 12:48:02 UTC
Please get us a debug log http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/Phonon#Environment_Variables

In particular also export PHONON_GST_GST_DEBUG=5 as this will give us gstreamer internal debug output.
