To attend the progress of some compilation on my main machine from the office, I started krfb to remotrly access the machine, look at things etc (yes I could have used ssh but I hate consoles).
Since I have four monitors connected with a total of 7126x1200 resolution, this uses quite some bandwith, even in 4 color mode. I then disabled the remaining 3 monitors to reduce total resolution. 
In the vnc viewer I then noticed that the transmitted resolution was still the original one and the disabled monitors showed black garble.
I am using the nvidia proprierary driver and changed the setting using nvidia-settings, so I guess the change was not broadcast throughout the system and kfrb just didn't know.
