Description Dotan Cohen 2011-04-07 07:47:54 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

The KDE 4.6 taskbar lets the user add launchers. However, one can only launch a single instance of an application with it. Some applications, such as Dolphin or Firefox, are handy to have multiple instances of. Please add the ability to launch an additional instance of a running application.

Thanks.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Some ideas for the UI to open a new instance:
1) Context (right-click) menu
2) Middle-clicking
3) Double-clicking
4) Something else?

Middle-clicking is already used for expanding groups. Double-clicking seems poorly-discoverable. So I would say right-click menu would be best.

Windows uses shift+click for exactly same purpose, so having this combination would be handy and consistent. Anyway <mod>+click does nothing at the moment.

Options for this are available in Plasma 5.
