Description Elias Probst 2011-04-07 05:43:39 UTC
Version: Git (master) (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

When the content of a folder is updated while having a context menu of the folder opened at the same time, the context menu shows heavy flickering.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- Open a rather large IMAP folder with a lot of messages which could be deleted/moved
- Select a lot of them (200 or more...)
- Issue a request like deleting them all
- Open immediately the context menu of this folder by doing a right click on it in the folder list
- Watch the context menu

Actual Results:
The context menu flickers on each update of the folder.

Expected Results:
The context menu shouldn't flicker at all and repaint itself more graceful.
Comment 1 Elias Probst 2011-04-07 05:46:51 UTC
Just noticed it might take some time until the flickering starts, as the deletion in the GUI happens somewhat later as also described in bug#270274

I confirm it.
Comment 3 Luca76 2012-08-13 15:13:13 UTC
Confirmed on KDE 4.9, but this bug was already present in earlier releases.

This appens in small IMAP (i.e. 10 messages) folders, too.

Bug still present in Kmail 4.10.3.
Comment 5 Laurent Montel 2013-08-18 09:04:45 UTC
Still in 4.11
I need to fix it soon.
Comment 6 Denis Kurz 2016-09-24 18:06:02 UTC
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 7 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 21:55:10 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
