Description oliveryty yu 2011-04-01 16:22:58 UTC
Version: unspecified
OS: Linux

I usually watch films by zoom/maximize them to full screen. Recently I installed Kubuntu, and watch films in full screen, it occupy the full screen and won't quit. I think this is a bug---I encountered the bug when watching film in new Firefox 4 browser, I thought it was the bug of FF4. but when I tried in Chrome, it happened again. So I must be a bug of KDE. I removed the Dragon Player and installed Totem, but the problem still exists.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Full screen films does not quit willingly in Firefox 4 browser; finally quit when I by accident clicked the penal.
2. It happened in Chrome;
3. It still happened when I removed Dragon Player and installed Totem.

Actual Results:
it sucks

Expected Results:
Films in full screen should be quit by pressing ESC at any time, so that I need not to restart the computer.

Try to watch film in a browser and put it in full screen, then try to quit it.

it is Kubuntu 10.10, and Kde version: 3.5.10

Does it work when you click on the video before pressing Esc? It is possible that the window is not activated when going full screen.

Additionally, you might try KDE 4 (which is actually the only supported KDE version in Kubuntu 10.10), as if it turns out to be a KDE bug, then probably nobody will go back to KDE 3 to fix it.

I clicked aimlessly and sometimes (maybe I was clicking on the
panel/dock) unexpected windows popped up instead of something done to
the video---it was in full screen.

I was watching video at tv.sohu.com.
(http://tv.sohu.com/20100907/n274764281.shtml) Maybe I sould try other
video sites...

It happened in http://www.tudou.com/playlist/p/a65614.html again. This
time clicking the dock could quit the full screen.

I checked the KDE version with the command:
~$ kded --version

And it reads:

Qt: 3.3.8b
KDE: 3.5.10
KDE Daemon: $Id: kded.cpp 711061 2007-09-11 09:42:51Z tpatzig $

And it is true I am using Kubuntu 10.10.

You know I am not a technician. I just wish things could be better.

BTW, thank you for you mail.

Maybe this explains why it was reported to be a wrong version:

funny, i have KDE4 with plasmoids and all the stuff, yet many old kde 3
apps claim that i have kde3.5.10, while amarok or kate, to say, return:
kde 4.2.2

I actually expect that what you get is normal because as far as I
understand it, <k_app> --version as suggested by jucato displays the
version of a particular application/software.

KDE is made up of a set of applications. "KDE version" only makes sense
if all K applications are at the same version level, eg from a default
installation of a certain distribution, as in my case when I posted my
message years ago.

But in your case, your "KDE" is a mixture of different versions, so it's
quite natural to get what you got.

PS: I missed clicked the "Report" button but I didn't realize it!
Someone knows how to recall the mis-report?

The crashes from comment #6 and comment #7 are caused by the radeon kernel driver. Please report those to the radeon developers via https://bugs.freedesktop.org/

kded is "kded4" for KDE4. If you've KDE 3 flying around on your system (as well) kded will report the KDE3 version, otherwise you get an error about "command not found".

The application you've been reporting to cause trouble seems the flashplayer, though (and a very strage variant since it apparently intercepts at least rmb clicks...) - so (esp. "just") de/installing this or that application shouldn't have any kind of impact.

Please ensure that (the configured shortcut) you also cannot escape out of other fullscreen applications (eg. s/mplayer uses "f" - so does vlc, but probably escape should work in either application as well, browsers usually use F11)

Also while you're in fullscreen mode and the window has the focus and you're using a more custom focus model, you should not be able to see the dock at all.
