Version: 4.4.10 (using KDE 4.5.5) OS: Linux I use Akregator to follow several rss feeds. One of them is planet.gnome.org. Lately several feed posts have appeared which contained an embedded webm video. When that feed post is selected, akregator immediatly crashes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Akregator 2. Subscribe to the Planet Gnome feed (http://planet.gnome.org/rss20.xml) 3. Download all feeds 4. Click on a feed post containing a webm video (for example Benjamin Otte's post on March 30, "the book was better") Actual Results: Immediate crash Expected Results: See the post, even if akregator can't handle the embedded video. This is a pretty annoying problem. There is no way to know beforehand if a post contains a webm video that will cause a crash. So browsing the feeds in akregator is like walking a mine field. Also as akregator is part of kontact, it takes kmail and other along when it goes down. And lastly, there doesn't seem to be a way to delete these crash causing mails from the list. Selecting a "bad" post causes a crash before anything else can be done, so I can't delete it. This means I'm slowly collecting crasher posts in my favourite feed reader. Navigation is also more complicated: support post 5 is a known crasher and I now want to delete post 6, because it is no longer of interest. Deleting post 6 will automatically select post 5 => crash again.
I could fix this by choosing gstreamer as phonon backend, so I think this is a duplicate of bug 227837. If not, feel free to reopen. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 227837 ***
