Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0) OS: Linux After install of OpenSuse 11.4 the Kde (in safe mode) Desktop does not appear only a black screen with a mouse cursor. Some small information windows do appear. In normal Kde boot mode I get a green curtain malfunction and I am unable to log in. Today two days after installation the Konqueror browser appeared and I am filing this bug report on same browser. Gnome Desktop functions correctly as well as Ldxe light desktop. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: normal Actual Results: normal Expected Results: same results The system should boot up correctly There appeared a warning message the boot sector was above a certain memory level during installation. I allowed for booting from the master boot record as well as well as the root directory. Something that needs to be addressed in the future and allow for a larger memory for the boot sector (by default) in the future.
Could you create a fresh user account using YaST and try to log into KDE using the new user? It is possible that some old configuration files prevent the startup.
Hi Christoph, Your bug fix worked well I logged in as a different user into Kde and it came up. Good Job. I have another request: In Yast2 Network Manager when choosing an (ISP) provider the list of countries to choose from is too short only 10 countries. Can Yast2 be updated to cover more countries and their Internet Service Providers. (especially Israel) Specifically I am trying to connect to a cellular ISP with Novatel-998D cellular modem using the Network Manager in Yast2 as well as other Network managers and packages such as Kinternet . I am not having much luck.
