Description Rainer Hurtado Navarro 2011-03-27 23:29:10 UTC
Version:           unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS:                Linux

This issue present in openSuSE 11.2 x86_64 Final + Updates, KDE4-4.3.1, till openSuSE 11.4 x86_64 Final + Updates, KDE4-4.6.0 (i. e. KDE4 4.3.1-4.6.0).

When the functions Capitalize, Uppercase, Lowercase in Tools (or through
KeyBoard shortcuts) are used in Kwrite, a problem applying accents arises, and
is solved when Kwrite is restarted.
The normal behavior is: (')+a => á, v. gr.
But after using any of the above functions, the following happens:
(') +a => á, v. gr.
So, a sentence like this:
La construcción semiótica del horror...
is rendered as:
La construcci'on semi'otica del horror...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Kwrite. Write something.
2.Use any of the following functions: Capitalize, Uppercase, Lowercase in Tools
(or through KeyBoard shortcuts)
3.Write something, including letters with accents. The accents will not be set.
Actual Results:
The accents are not set to vowels.

Expected Results:
The accents be set to vowels.

It is still present in kwrite/KDE 4.7.2 (4.7.2) "release 5" (openSuSE 12.1 Final), and also affects the behavior of kopete, as I have currently realized (I do not use to chat, but quite seldom).

Can't reproduce.
Sorry, beside, not sure how Kate could trigger to have this behaviour in kopete, too.
