Created attachment 58352 [details] screenshot Version: unspecified OS: Linux As you can see in the screenshot, the name of the weather station is Mainz (Germany) and the location is somewhere between Oberursel and Idstein which is about 50Km away from Mainz. Coordinates of weatherstation named Mainz: about 8° 26' 48,2"O, 50° 12' 58,3"N Coordinates of Mainz (City): about 8° 15' 55,6"O, 49° 59' 40,3"N Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: move mouse over weatherstation until the popup appears
This is a general accuracy problem of the weather stations which has its origin in the BBC weather data: The precision of the weather stations' coordinates is too low. This is not much a problem for the BBC websites (they don't display the exact location of the stations, just a map of the area around), but looks strange in Marble. Since we ship the location list with Marble, we could improve the situation by replacing the coordinates with more accurate ones. Given that there are more than 4000 stations, this needs to be done semi-automatically. It should be doable with a script or small utility that combines a search engine (like OSM namefinder) and the station name.
In this case, i believe, the location (coordinates) of the weatherstation is correct but the name is wrong, because the temperature does not match to Mainz. Mainz and Frankfurt are quite similar, but the temperature of this station is about 6° too low.
