Description Rinus Bakker 2011-03-25 23:11:03 UTC
Version: 2.0.0 (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

After rebuild all thumbnails the people (faces) thumbnails have to rebuild after every relaunch. I want to browse all faces, a huge amount in my case, if I click on people it takes about 5 minutes before I am able to browse.

Reproducible: Always

The bug is that "Rebuild all thumbnails" does not care for rebuilding the face thumbnail, not more, is that right?
Because you say in the text that after a (one) rebuild operation, consecutively the face thumbnails will get rebuilt rebuilt after every (all from now on) digikam restarts.

Exactly, it's even worse, it happens everytime I click on "people" and
want to scroll downwards, very unlike to when I am in albums.

This is a bug. Normally, the thumbnail is stored already on creation of the face, so there shouldnt be any need to recreate it (which is costly, we cannot load scaled-down versions of the image if the face is small)

Rinus,

Can you check with last digiKam 4.2.0 if this entry still valid ?

Thanks in advance.

Seems to be still valid with digikam 4.12.0

Is this still valid with current release (5.4.0)?

Mario,

Yes, i think. The Maintenance Thumbnail tool only handle full image size. It do not take a care about face tags.

digiKam 7.0.0 stable release is now published:

We need a fresh feedback on this file using this version.

This problem cannot be reproduced in digiKam-7.2.0-RC. Face thumbnails are only recreated once and are then available again in the database.
