Description arne anka 2011-03-20 22:10:40 UTC
Version: 0.9 (using KDE 4.6.1)
OS: Linux

i've got a netbook which employs a hotkey to en/-disable wlan.
when having wlan enabled and then disabling it, the network manager widget and systray icon signalize activity related to trying to configure the wlan adapter again, despite being shut off.

- the icon (although most of the icons are hardly interdinstinguishable and not very informative, they're so close to eac other, it takes afair amount of interpretation to get an idea what each might mean) conveys the distinctive impression of not being "off"
- the gui popping up after left clik displays in the left part under "wlan interface" the text "configuring" (or something to that effect)
- after a while a wind pops up, asking for the credentials for the last used network

the widget should be able to recognize the wlan interface being shut down and not bother to reconfigure -- after all, when disabling wlan via hotkey a kde notification appears and shows a message about wlan being now disabled.

the wlan adapter is a
Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)
using the bcmwl kernel module package from ubuntu.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
enable wlan
wait for it to connect
disable

Actual Results:
widget tries to reconfigure the wlan despite no wlan adapter ebing available anymore and pops up password request

Expected Results:
go straight to being inactive
