Version: 0.7 (using KDE 4.5.3) OS: Linux After I organized my menu (creating submenus, moving items, adding icons, etc) and saved it, I went back to check the menu, only to find that changes started to not be saved. Also some of my submenus started to move around the list randomly (I hadn't moved those menus). What's more, some submenus showed up twice. I had saved multiple times, after one or two changes. I also restarted my pc, and tried again only to find I was having the same problem. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: Create some new submenus in a menu, and organize your items. For example, I created the new menus {Video Players, Audio Editors, Video Editors, Ripping/Burning Apps} under my Multimedia menu. Actual Results: None of those new menus were created, instead a copy of multimedia showed up in the main menu of the Applications tab. That was one example, but it happened under several menus. Even menus that I hadn't touched, were moved around or duplicated, with no apparent cause (i.e. at random). Expected Results: The software should have only moved the items *I* moved in KDE Menu Editor. Only the menus I created should have been created. OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-27-generic Compiler: cc The application tells me I'm using version 0.8, but you don't have that version listed, so I said I was using 0.7 The application never crashed.
After some changes, I asked the menu editor to Save and it saved very slowly but restarted when it got to 90% and looped continually until cancelled. I logged out and logged in again and the problem went away. Not only that, the changes I had done the last time I used the editor were implemented. Version 0.8 on KDE Development Platform 4.6.5 Linux wheezy. uname -a gives Linux Phoenicia 3.1.0-1-686-pae #1 SMP Mon Nov 14 08:24:20 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux
KDE Frameworks 5.18.0 Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1) The xcb windowing system I have seen similar issues still present when editing and saving the menu. I was able to kill off some of the configuration files manually from the following folders and recreated; but that is hardly ideal. $HOME/.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu $HOME/.local/share/desktop-directories $HOME/.local/share/applications/
