Version:           unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)

*Note: the relevant KStars version is 1.6.0 (which was NOT listed in the 'Application Version' list on KDE's bugcenter*

Any time in KStars, going to 'Settings' -> 'Configure KStars' -> 'Xplanet' (non default option) causes KStars to crash immediately, closes all current programs and logs out the user!
The log in screen is presented, after which a new OS session starts!

Not sure. In the KStars help document, Xplanet wasn't shown as an option in the 'Configure KStars' menu. 

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.35-27-generic

All works fine in the GIT version. Please reopen if you can reproduce it in the GIT version.
