Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0) OS: Linux Dolphin does not currently have an integrated visual directory tree tool (eg. filelight, kdirstat) [[BTW, users should be able to easily integrate their own tools and scripts like in thunar and nautilus ]]. This is really MINOR issue, because a user can easily use the context menu (right mouse click) option to open filelight or kdirstat for a directory. The only functional differences might be that a tool would act on the current directory, and a context menu open option doesn't directly work on one's / folder. Reproducible: Didn't try
Thanks for the request, but could you please be more specific? E.g. do you want to have filelight or kdirstat integrated as view into Dolphin or only as context-menu? Those are two completely different requests...
Yes, the idea would be to have a tool that by pressing a gui button or a keybinding would replace the file-listing panel with a filelight / kdirstat view centered on the current directory. On my system (Kubuntu 10.10), filelight has already integrated itself into the Dolphin context menu for directories.
Thanks for clarification, however Dolphin currently does not (and will not) provide KPart-plugins (support of KPart-plugins would be required to replace the view). For usecases like this Konqueror is available.
Dolphin support KParts now, so can we reactivate this?
...and filelight just dropped its kpart in 17.08.
(In reply to Matthias from comment #4) > Dolphin support KParts now, so can we reactivate this? Even if filelight still had a kpart, it would still not be possible to embed it in the main dolphin view. Btw filelight is already integrated with dolphin, just click on the space bar in the status bar.
I like something obvious, especially for new users. They will look often in the "Properties" dialog, there is already an entry for the used space. Can we implement it there? I think a button called 'Details' next to 'Stop' is fine
That could make sense, but it should be implemented in kio and not dolphin.
Yeah, that sounds nice.
So can we reopen this?
Please file a new bug against frameworks-kio.
