Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.1) OS: Linux Background: Having the 'pager' set to show more 'desktops' than one designed an 'Activity' to show causes extra default 'desktops' to be created, and added confusing when switching be between 'desktops'. In fact all panel settings should go with the 'Activity'. Misc: The 'pager' option 'Different widgets for each desktop' should be removed and become default. Each widget should have the option to be shown on all desktops (or custom) for it's 'Activity', same goes for panels, but default to be shown on all 'Desktops' of it's 'Activity'. New arrangement: 'Desktop View Grouping' (formally known as an 'Activity'?) could be something that contains a default 'Desktop View' (page) and can open a 'Desktop View' (page) than can override the 'Desktop View Grouping' (chapter) default for a 'Desktop View' (page) position(s). The 'Desktop View Grouping' (chapter) could be set up to have something like first desktop gets background A, second gets background B, etc... These 'Desktop Views' (pages) could contain the option to use 'Desktop View Grouping' (chapter) default, or their own for it's widget set, it's background, etc... 'Desktop View Groupings' (chapters) open 'Desktops Views' (pages) for a 'Desktop'. 'Desktop Views' (pages) take up exactly one desktop, while a 'Desktop View Group' (Chapter) takes at least one desktop. There should be an option to 'save the current desktop view (page) as...' and 'open desktop view (page)...' Basically there's a the settings for the 'Desktop View Grouping' (chapter) that can open a 'Desktop View' (page) that can override the settings for 'Desktop View Grouping' (chapter) Analogies: 'Activity' could be called something like a 'Desktop View Grouping' and 'Desktop' be called 'Desktop View'. Feel free to come up with even better names if you want to. 'Desktop Views' are like pages in a book. 'Desktop Views' are in an 'Desktop View Grouping'. They can be 'inserted', 'overwritten' and saved as a whole grouping. And the default 'Desktop View' that a 'Desktop View Grouping' has can be thought up as the paper. Or maybe it should be called letters, pages, chapters, and books? (The analogy is a lot easier to understand than 'Desktops', and 'Activities') letters/words->Elements on a desktop pages->A single desktop view chapters->A group of desktop views, an 'Activity' book->All chapters put together. like the 'Activities' selection Maybe it's just me but, I don't like the name 'Activities' for this. I like the chapters in a book analogy better. Feel free to come up with a better analogy. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: set an activity up with less desktops than the pager has, and switch through the desktops until you get past the last desktop setup Actual Results: an added default desktops show up Expected Results: The added desktops shouldn't be there
tl;dr but this seems to be a duplicate of bug #251267
