Version: KDE 4 (using KDE 4.4.5) OS: Linux Whenever I click the the tray icon the menu does not show up. This should help give you an idea of what I am talking about. If you look closely you can see my mouse is on the kalarm icon and the menu is not showing up. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/COKEDUDEUSF/Screenshot-1.png I don't have that many settings or alarms so I don't care if I have to reset my setting so I tried that already. I tried to purge my settings and then I searched my computer for anything on it that said kalarm and I also deleted it. sudo apt-get purge kalarm Then I reinstalled kalarm and I still had the problem of my menu not showing up when I clicked my tray icon. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Whenever I click the the tray icon the menu does not show up. Actual Results: Whenever I click the the tray icon the menu does not show up. Expected Results: Show the menu when I click the tray icon. OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-22-generic-pae Compiler: cc
Please let me know if you need any more information.
Just to be sure, can you please confirm that the problem occurs when you right click on the tray icon, and that the cursor is over the actual icon when you do this (in the screen shot, the cursor is over the system tray background, which would prevent KAlarm from reacting to the click).
The problem occurs when I left click the tray icon. I get the normal remove from panel message when I right click it. http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/COKEDUDEUSF/Screenshot-1-1.png http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh133/COKEDUDEUSF/Screenshot-2.png
I'm not sure if you can see it on your end but I am using: kde 4.4.5 kalarm 2.4.10 I can't see this info on my end.
Left clicking the tray icon should show or hide the main KAlarm window. Right click is used to get the context menu. If you get the panel menu instead when you right click, this indicates that something is preventing the right click from reaching KAlarm - there is no way that KAlarm itself could display the panel menu. As far as I can see, there must either be some configuration issue on your system which causes the right click to be intercepted, or there is a bug in your distribution which has this effect. Because this works on other systems, I suggest that you report the bug to Linux Mint.
Could you help me figure out why the main KAlarm window is not showing up anymore when I left click? It has worked since August so I don't understand what the problem would be. How would I reset all of the kde settings?
The fact that neither left nor right click are working suggests that something is preventing the clicks from reaching KAlarm. Do your other system tray icons respond correctly to clicks?
All of the other system tray icons display the same way since I installed Linux Mint back in August. I would think that it is the correct way but I am not sure how I can verify this. I am downloading the kde Linux Mint live cd to see how it displays the kalarm icon. I am currently using gnome so I would think it could just as easily be gnome problem instead of a Linux Mint problem. Could you show me what the left click and right click of kalarms tray icon looks like on your computer please?
Created attachment 57814 [details] KAlarm system tray icon context menu I attach a screenshot of KAlarm's system tray icon's context menu, which should be displayed by right clicking on the system tray icon. When you left click on the system tray icon, it doesn't display a menu - it simply minimises (to the system tray) or restores KAlarm's main window.
I'm marking this as closed because it seems to be a distro issue, or possibly some sort of desktop configuration issue outside the control of KAlarm.
