Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.0) OS: Linux I've seen this bug reported before and misdiagnosed multiple times. I think people believe that it's been fixed, but I can verify that it's been happening to me over several KDE versions on several different machines with different sound cards, so it's not an isolated thing. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: Run pidgin. Turn on notification sounds. Actual Results: Crackles mixed in to notification sounds Expected Results: No crackles. :) IMPORTANT: If I turn the volume on pidgin *way* down (to 30% or so), the crackling stops. Unfortunately, this is very difficult, because pidgin's volume slider only appears during the actual notification sound and I have to catch it quickly with the mouse. This is a bad work-around because a) it's extremely difficult to do, b) it shouldn't crackle at the default volume, and c) it makes Pidgin's notifications too quiet. Anyway, I'm assuming there's clipping happening at some point, since it's likely it would continue to crackle otherwise regardless of volume.
Looks like I should have submitted this bug to kmix.

At this point I don't see any relationship with KMix. Closing Bug. Please report this to Pidgin.
