Description Bob Vincent 2011-02-25 03:42:27 UTC
Version: 1.3.1 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

When I configure a notification event to play a sound, the sound is not played when the event happens.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Click on "Settings"
Click on "Configure Notifications"
Click on "New message -- New message arrived in a channel."
Check the box next to "Play a sound".
Click on the file-selection icon.
Click on /usr/share/sounds/KDE-Im-Low-Priority-Message.ogg
Click on "OK"
Also select the checkbox next to "Show a message in a popup"
Click on "OK"

Visit a busy channel, such as #linux on irc.freenode.net

Actual Results:
When new messages arrive in the channel, popup messages are displayed, but no sounds are played.

Expected Results:
The selected sound should be played.

This is most likely some sort of problem with your Phonon setup. Does sound work in other Phonon apps?

Continued on IRC - this is not app-specific, and works here, so closing.
