Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.5) OS: Linux I have a panel at the bottom of my display which contains various things like virtual desktops, date/time/, menus... When I choose panel options -> panel settings -> maximize panel and then save the session (probably not needed)... Restart kde. The panel settings are back as they were before I made this change. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: see details above... Actual Results: see details above. Expected Results: Settings ought to be saved and used for subsequent kde starts until they're changed again...
KDE Version: 4.6.3 in Kubuntu 11.04. I'm not certain if this is the same bug, because of the difference in version number, but it's the only one that seemed to have the same symptoms. I've been running KDE 4.x series, in different versions ever since it appeared in Kubuntu and before that I used the KDE 3.x series. I've always had six Virtual Desktops which I name to reflect the activities that I use the desktop for, that is, Main, Games, Multimedia, VMs, Utilities and PIM. I recently added the kubuntu-ppa repository to my system to get V 4.6.3, which worked fine except that my Desktop names had reverted to Desktop 1, Desktop 2, Desktop 3 ... When I renamed them everything was fine until I rebooted, when they reverted again. I've tried renaming them several times but they always revert on reboot.
I should have done this earlier; the file ~/.kde/share/config/kwinrc is updated after the settings are changed and contains the Desktop names I've chosen. After a reboot, this file seems to be overwritten by a default file without names. Everything else is identical.
The problem that I reported above was fixed today with the routine update.
