Created attachment 57387 [details] Wasted space in setting/preferences dialogs Version: unspecified OS: Linux Hi, In one app this is called settings. In another it's preferences and there are probably more names for it.. Anyway, lets call it "Settings" since all widgets have that. When you click on the settings thing for widgets (or any app that uses that dialog) i always notice the text at the top (sometimes with an icon ans sometimes without it) but why do we even show it? I mean, just look a few more pixels to the left and you clearly see which button you clicked so to me this seems enough. No need to show in again. To illustrate the part i mean i filled it in with red in the attached image. Regards, Mark Reproducible: Always
Well, its the title of the page, while the left side is the "table of contents". For some pages the text is actually more explicit than what is in the left side, and thus makes sense. see: systemsettings->application appearance->"style". Besides, this is not an oxygen bug (it shows up for every widget style), so I'm reassigning, though I'd personally close it as "invalid".
But look how "often" that is done in any other widget settings, or other applications.. Oke, the idea is nice IF it's being used and right now it's barely being used.
Part of kdelibs widget, KPageWidget. Reassigning.
