Version: 1.8.0 (using KDE 4.5.1) OS: Linux When "writing metadata in all files", it takes hours for hours. Compared to DK Version 1.2 or so, I can NOT see improvements. I suggest urgntly to us an internal marker to write metadata only in _new_ pics, where this didn't take place already. The message "update matedata" or so indicates, that the user can choose if writing _all_ metadat or _only_ new metadata. From my observations, this message is definitively misleading, as DK only writes _all_ or _no_ metadata!!! SUGGESTION: whenever taking up new pics in database, write metadata in pics and/or database in background. Maybe, one should be able to configure this item in settings. For my opinion, this is just a short retardation in working speed- neglectible. One could use caches to do this job in the background. Not embarrassing the user. There are several mechanisms to achieve this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: It is a WISH
