Description Taahir Ahmed 2011-02-17 23:25:42 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

I am using a laptop with an external monitor. (Both are 1280 wide)

When I use OpenGL desktop rendering, the rightmost monitor displays a strip of the left side of the leftmost monitor on its right edge. The mouse pointer on the right monitor is invisibly offset by the width of this strip.

When I switch to XRender, the monitors display correctly, but the rightmost monitor has a very strong blue tint that can't be corrected using the monitor's color settings.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Connect an external monitor to the laptop, while using OpenGL rendering.

Configure the external monitor to be 1280 x 1024 and apply

Configure the laptop monitor to be left or right of the external monitor. Apply

The problem occurs.

Actual Results:
The problem described above.

Expected Results:
Proper display of a wide desktop, spread across both monitors.

Running Kubuntu 10.10 on a laptop with integrated intel graphics.

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.35-27-generic
Compiler: cc

i have the same bug on a laptop with:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)

also, if i select the laptop monitor to be on the left and the external monitor on the right, the same situation happens to the external monitor.

You will need to tweak the StartupCommands line in your .kde/share/config/krandrrc
It's broken now, try a workaround outlined here https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=248563#c5

This sounds very much like a problem I was about to report as new. For me It happend in a desktop system using SolydK 201405 with KDE 4.12.4 after switching from the nouveau driver to Nvidia's 331.49-1 driver. If I configure my second monitor to the right of the primary display I get a stripe similar to the one described above and the result is a pan and scan effect when using the mouse to go between monitors and/or desktops. Unlike the above report, if I place the second display to the left of the primary display it behaves as expected, otherwise it seems to be the same problem. I have two other distributions installed on the same box in different partitions with XFCE and Cinnamon desktops, neither of which have this problem when using Nvidia's driver. I had this happen in another KDE based Linux distribution I was testing that I did not keep, not sure which one, I tested several. If I don't hear anything more on this report I'll file a new one.

The same bug with Arch Linux (Antergos):
Kernel 4.17.14
KDE Plasma 5.13.4
KDE Frameworks 5.48.0
Qt 5.11.1
GPU Intel HD Graphics 260
Laptop Screeen 3200x1800 (it works right)
External Monitor 3840x2160 (it doesn't work right, the rightmost monitor in a dual-monitor configuration displays a strip of the leftmost monitor)
Scaling: 1.7
