Description andyhubbert 2011-02-12 16:52:37 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

I recently added the ubuntu backports PPA to upgrade my KDE to 4.6.0 this made the desktop very slow and this impacts on every application I run.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
it's just generally slow. Kubuntu, added PPA backports then do updates to get KDE 4.6.0 then slow from that point on.

Actual Results:
A really slow computer!!

Expected Results:
upgarde to KDE 4.6.0 and give me the new KDE version without the computer seemingly having problems

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.35-25-generic
Compiler: cc

Compiled probably from source by the ubuntu backports PPA team: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa

[Comment from a bug triager]
- Which widgets do you have installed ? Any third party one ? What if you remove some of them ?
- What is the CPU usage ? Check which processes are consuming CPU
- What is your disk activity ?
- Is any other activity slow ? (like browsing files in Dolphin or browsing the web ?)
- Did the KDE 4.6.0 package upgrade bring any other upgrade (for some non-KDE package) ?
Plasma may not be the responsible of this slowness.. we need to track down the issue
Regards
