Description ale.forums2 2011-02-12 01:31:32 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

when a keyboard shortcut is established to activate the "search" box in the search and launch containment,
even if this is unique, it works only for the ongoing session.
It gets inactivated upon logout of the session or restart of the system.
It is still listed as the keyboard shortcut for this action in the keyboard shortcuts control panel within system settings.
However it is still made inactive.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
on the "search and launch containment" desktop, right click and select "desktop settings"

on the "keyboard shortcut" tab insert whatever custom key combination that does not overlap with any pre-existing shortcut

click "apply"

pressing the selected shortcut will activate the "search" box in the middle of the desktop.

logout and login back or restart the computer

go to the search and launch containment

press the keyboard shortcut previously selected

the "search" box is not activated

Actual Results:
the keyboard shortcut stopped to work after ending the session during which it was selected

Expected Results:
the keyboard shortcut should always work independently of logging out kde or restarting the computer

there are no other desktop environments installed

it might depend on the plasma crash that happens every time that users logout of kde 4.6
