Description moon300web 2011-02-09 16:22:00 UTC
Version: 4.5.2 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

KMyMoney and Catalyst driver combination crashes Xorg

Reproducibility: Happens every time
Steps to reproduce: KMyMoney - Settings - Configure KMyMoney
Actual results: User is logged out of system and afterwards system shows GDM login screen. Just like you login after switching on the system.
Expected Results: Show the 'Configure KMyMoney' windows

Details:
I am trying to use KMyMoney (instead of gnucash, because kymymoney has import matching you can control).
However Xorg crashes (X restarted) whenever I try to:
KMyMoney - Settings - Configure KMyMoney
It also happens sometimes when I'm importing QIF in KMyMoney and creating matching rules.

No other program on my system shows this behaviour only KMyMoney.
But... if I use a different driver (vesa, radeon, ati) KMyMoney does not crash Xorg.
Now before advising to use those other drivers: Catalyst + any other program I have does not crash Xorg.
And I really do not want to use the other drivers, because they give other problems.

Comment 1 Rex Dieter 2011-02-09 16:31:51 UTC
this is almost certainly a video driver bug, tell amd/ati (or whoever you got the driver from).
Comment 2 Alvaro Soliverez 2011-02-09 16:37:10 UTC
I'm running the latest Catalyst drivers and I have no problem. Contact your distro about this.

Thanks - I will the problem on a Fedora list.
Comment 4 Alvaro Soliverez 2011-05-12 12:46:16 UTC
Does this still happen? I run the Catalyst driver and it works fine?
Comment 5 moon300web 2011-05-13 00:27:00 UTC
Not happening anymore after some updates
