Description jordan 2011-02-08 05:03:40 UTC
Version: 4.6 (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

When placing the mouse over the taskbar at any given running application, the preview is correctly displayed however you can not interact with the UI other than moving the mouse until the preview fades out.

Should you have any interaction with the UI at this time, whichever mouse buttons were clicked or keys pressed will be updated to the screen very quickly.

for instance, within this textbox i can highlight my konsole on a mouseover and continue typing. once it fades out, the text i type will immediately appear in the textbox.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
click in a textbox and give it the cursors focus. mouseover an open app in toolbar to get a preview of that window and then continue typing.

Actual Results:
the typed text will only refresh to the screen after the preview has disappeared.

Expected Results:
continue refreshing the screen even when an app window preview is displayed

other refresh issues exist, such as web pages look like they are not loading in firefox , and when going back and forth between tabs, or minimizing and maximizing they refresh.

three computers have been upgraded to kubuntu 10.10

of the three. two have kde 4.6
one has the stock kde 4.5 that came with 10.10

only the 4.6 computers have this issue

This is almost definitely some sort of refresh issue. it also seems to plague firefox to a great extent when used with 4.6. firefox is 3.6.13.

disabling desktop effects solves all of these refresh issues, however, no desktop effects.

Most important questions are whether you still have this issue and in case, on what kind of HW and settings (eg. for a start, run "kwin --replace &" from konsole and post the output)
