(Maybe related to file kio and not dolphin itself)

I bought myself a SSD and symlinked my old directories from the normal hard disk to the /home which is now located on the SSD. When choosing properties of a folder its size is shown as 4 kiB or 20 kiB or something and its content doesn‘t get counted. This is especially annyoing when triggering folder properties from within the folder (i.e. open the folder and then right-click on an empty spot and choose Properties).
It should count the folder contents no matter what. But maybe this is a workaround to prevent the recursive algorithm from getting stuck in a loop when calculating sizes, so all the symlink folder sizes are

Reproducible: Always

Thanks for the report!

Well, the actual size of the file *is* the size of the symlink. But I agree that it would be nice to also see the size of the symlinked folder's contents. There is a wish about that already.
