Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.4.5) OS: Linux If I get an email with an attached file, e.g. a PDF, I always have to tell kmail which application to use for opening this file. A "open with" dialogue is popping up. There is an option "Remember application assocuation for this ...". I select okular and activate this option an press ok button. I get the notification in a little window saying that system configuration is updated. But the next time I select a PDF in kmail I have to do the same again. With word or openoffice documents I do not have this problem, only with PDF documents. If I click in dolphin on a PDF, it is opened instantly. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: start kontact open an email containing a pdf click on the pdf Actual Results: getting the "open with" dialogue Expected Results: opening the PDF instantly using okular OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.37 Compiler: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
Still a problem? Looks like a user setup problem.
I have had the exact same issue for a long time though I upgraded my distro twice, so it must be as Kevin says a user setup problem. But I can't fix it anyway... The problem seems to be with pdf files only : the file association doesn't seem to remain. I'm using Kubuntu 15.10 (and before that 14.04 and I had already the same problem). Note : The pdf file association is correctly set in KDE preferences (Okular launches normally when a pdf file is opened from anywhere else, dolphin, firefox etc.)
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
