Description zless 2011-01-28 04:46:08 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.0)
OS: Linux

Please see the attached screenshot.
In KDE 4.6 RC2 the background was OK. Right after the upgrade to KDE 4.6 final the background looks like it's 8bit.

Reproducible: Always

hmm.. It doesn't look different from http://websvn.kde.org/*checkout*/branches/KDE/4.6/kdelibs/kdeui/about/body-background.jpg?revision=1212187

Reassign to kdelibs.
Comment 3 Christoph Feck 2011-02-02 01:31:23 UTC
I don't know if the "noise" is intended, or if it is caused by too strong JPEG compression. Artists might decide to upload an improved or different background.
Comment 4 Ivan Čukić 2011-02-02 10:44:56 UTC
It isn't an artefact of jpeg, it is intentional.

Please clarify. What's intentional to have low res backgrounds in an otherwise eye-candy oriented environment?
Comment 6 Ivan Čukić 2011-03-06 16:47:36 UTC
2345 x 1680 is low res? Really?

How about a constructive comment? Did you look at the attached screenshot? Do you find that "intentional"?
Comment 8 Ivan Čukić 2011-03-06 17:35:32 UTC
Yes I did, and already answered once.

If it is really needed I'll repeat - the noise/diagonal-lines effect is intentional.

It is not a bug, it is not a jpeg artefact, it is not due to low-res image etc.

KDE 4.7 RC2 with KDEPIM 4.6.1 and this annoying background is still there.
