Blurring the background for transparent konsole would be very nice and handy. In fact, the patch allowing that is complete, but waiting for review finish and submit. See:

The patch is not complete; see my review in the page you linked for its technical flaws. Once Konsole has this sorted out Yakuake will of course come to support it as well, don't worry.

Hi,

I'm using a modified version of Konsole and Yakuake with the patch proposed by Martin in order to activate the blurred background, and it work's like a charm.

I don't see any drawback with the KPart part (not in kate nor than kdevelop or dolphin). 

In my opinion this patch helps a lot for the readability.
